COMMENTARY:

Anytime someone flees the scene of an early morning hit-and-run, it gives the appearance that they were trying to hide something. We don’t yet know what might have led to the cause of this crash, but we can say for sure that some evidence is gone, particularly any evidence that might have been obtained through toxicology tests. I am not saying this driver was impaired, but if he was, there will be little evidence to prove it. Drivers who flee often know this, especially ones with a history of driving impaired. For victims and their grieving families, this can be an issue as it may delay justice and impact their chance of recovery. Hopefully, the criminal justice system will locate the criminal and hold him accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
