A Longview truck driver has been cited for his involvement in a crash from earlier this month. The crash happened at approximately 8:45 p.m. on January 4, 2023 in Angelina County, TX. According to KTRE, Terry Lynn Vaught, Jr. was turning from Crain Road onto State Highway 103.He failed to yield the right-of-way to a Chevy Colorado, causing the pickup truck to strike the trailer. The location previously had a stop sign at the intersection, but all that was there was a pole. TXDOT spokesperson Rhonda Oaks said that Crain Road is a private Driveway and TXDOT is not responsible for maintaining stop signs on private driveways.
COMMENTARY:
Left turns can be dangerous maneuvers and can be particularly deadly when a commercial vehicle is involved. Just last month, a semi towing a trailer in Midland County failed to yield right-of-way when making a left turn and caused a crash that claimed the life of David Vela. Conducting a thorough investigation and preserving evidence is critical when litigating this type of case. Going up against a commercial company can be tricky so having someone experienced in these types of cases may prove critical to the success of the case.
