Commentary

A Sunday afternoon drive turned tragic for several innocent people including a child, all because an intoxicated driver decided to get behind the wheel. This is all too common and has to stop. For those victims, they are left to piece together a life after an accident that was completely preventable. It seems that sentences for Driving While Intoxicated only result in a slap on the wrist. For some drunk drivers, they have a history of drinking and driving and it doesn’t end until they are behind bars. If the drunk driver had been drinking and was over-served at a bar or restaurant, the victim or their family could sue the bar or restaurant for their role in a crash that led to injury or death. If a driver causes an accident and is intoxicated after being over-served, it is important to act quickly to prevent evidence such as receipts, witness statements, and video footage from disappearing. The only way to do this is through litigation which will require the help of an attorney experienced in handling this type of case. They can help you avoid pitfalls while providing the support you need to navigate this process.
